Do you spend your
evenings on the couch with a bag of Doritos and diet coke, wondering how many
teams the library has…and what the teams do?
Well, we have answers for you!
The
Library Services Team Structure:
Primary Assignments list ten teams.
(Seems like a lot
more). These would be considered the basic teams of the library. The multitude of temporary teams will be
addressed in a future news article (ah—something to look forward to).
The Administrative Team consists of the Dean,
Associate Dean and Technology Coordinator, administrative assistants,
programmers and analysts and technical resources.
The Catalog Team covers cataloging (original, copy
and serials), mending and processing.
The Electronic Resources and Current Periodicals Team
also includes the areas of binding and serials circulation.
Governments
Documents Team deals with
local, state and federal documents.
Information/Reference
Team works the information
desk—in person and via electronic questions.
They field interesting questions such as, “Can I feed my pet squirrel
spaghetti?”
The Instruction and Orientation Team creates and
instructs the classes on how to use library materials.
The Mobile Computing Team setup the wireless network,
mobile web pages, wireless notebooks and wireless cards for students and
staff. Working on new mobile web sites
and applications.
Rare
Books and Special Collections Team
house the rare books and special collections (Cordell dictionaries, etc).
Lending
Services Team deals with
the stacks, circulation desk, inter-library loan and reserves.
Resources
Development and Management Team
is also known collection development team.
Teaching
Materials, Microforms and Media Team
house the children’s books, videos, textbooks, microprints and other great
materials.
