Discuss the Assignment If you're at a loss about where to begin, talk to another person. Explain the assignment. Discuss topics covered in class. In the course of the conversation, things will probably become much clearer to you. If you already have a general idea about what you want to write about, they can suggest sources or help you focus your topic. If you have no idea what to do, they can offer suggestions.
