Types of Articles: Scholarly

Scholarly articles present information on original research, experiments or a scholarly evaluation of a topic. The sole purpose of scholarly articles is to disseminate information to other scholars and researchers. New ideas, new research, new experiment results, reviews and evaluations of research; all of these are examples of scholarly articles. Scholarly articles are found in "journals" rather than magazines.
